DLO-FBR is a not-for-profit organization and is part of the Wageningen University & Research Centre (WUR), one of the leading research centres in the world focusing on healthy foods, sustainable food production chains and the biobased economy. DLO-FBR has been active in the field of meat replacers for more than 10 years. Much of the research was based on technology platforms such as extrusion and on our expertise in modifying food textures with macronutrient interactions. More recently, DLO-FBR has been involved in consumer research, specifically observational and experimental psychological tools to improve our understanding of food choice behaviour of consumers.
